When you arrive, a greeter will welcome you and an usher will give you a copy of the order of the service. An usher can provide you with a large print bulletin or a hearing device if it is requested. Our church is fully ADA-accessible. Spaces for persons using a wheelchair are available.

Worship begins with music. Throughout the service there are responsive and unison prayers, songs of different styles, sung responses, a choir anthem or special music, a Bible reading, a time for children to hear a message especially for them, a message relevant to today based on the reading, a time of prayer where requests for prayer are shared, announcements of activities and an offering. The service lasts approximately one hour.

The Sacrament of Holy Communion (the Lord’s Supper) is served at the following times: the first Sunday of the year, the first Sunday of Lent, Maundy Thursday, Easter, Pentecost, the first Sunday of October and the first Sunday of Advent. Bread and juice are used for the sacrament and it is served in the pew.

Worship from the Sunday after Labor Day – Memorial Day is at 11:00 am. Our summer worship is at 10:00 am. (The sanctuary is air conditioned)

Nursery care is provided for children under the age of 5. Our caregivers are required to have background clearances.

There have been several baptisms throughout the past year. Our baptism service welcoming a new life into Christianity features the traditional service and response from the congregation. The minister proudly brings the child out into the congregation to meet the church family. The parents are given the seashell used in the baptism ceremony and a copy of the days New York Times to commemorate the day.

The beautiful sanctuary at St. Johns provides the perfect setting for weddings. Our church has hosted many weddings over the recent years including same sex wedding ceremonies.

The congregation of St. John’s values preaching that is meaningful, educational and biblically based. The content of preaching should be relevant to current life situations. The congregation wants preaching that is comforting as well as inspiring. Preaching that is interesting with the use of humor is also valued.
